I, Frankenstein is a 2014 American science fantasy action film based on the digital-only graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux. It stars Aaron Eckhart as Frankenstein's monster, who is caught in a war between gargoyles and demons. The film received extremely negative reviews from critics and was a box-office bomb, grossing $76 million worldwide against a production budget of $65 million.

The film's plot is as follows: In 1795, Doctor Victor Frankenstein creates a monster by putting together parts of corpses and reanimating them. Horrified by his creation, Frankenstein tries to destroy it, but the monster survives and murders his wife Elizabeth. Frankenstein chases it to the Arctic, but he succumbs to the cold weather. When the monster returns home to bury Frankenstein, it is attacked by demons, but is then rescued by two gargoyles, Ophir and Keziah. They bring it to a cathedral, where the monster meets the gargoyle queen Leonore and her second-in-command Gideon. Leonore explains that they were created by the Archangel Michael to battle demons on Earth and protect humanity. The weapons allow him to "descend" demons (destroying their bodies and trapping their souls in Hell) as they have the symbol of the Gargoyle Order carved on them. For the next two hundred years, Adam lives apart from society, killing any demon that pursues him and hiding from them. Deciding to rejoin society in the modern-day, Adam looks for and confronts a group of demons. During the fight, a police officer is accidentally killed. This causes Adam to be summoned by the gargoyles once more and they decide to imprison him as punishment. A demon Helek, who survived Adam's attack, reports to his leader, the demon prince Naberius, that Adam is alive.

Naberius has been secretly working with a scientist named Terra Wade, who is researching how to reanimate dead tissue. Naberius wants to use her research to create an army of reanimated corpses that he can possess with the souls of his fallen demons. He believes that Adam's journal, which contains Frankenstein's secrets, holds the key to his plan. He sends a group of demons led by his right-hand man Zuriel to raid the gargoyles' cathedral and steal the journal. They succeed in retrieving the journal and kidnapping Terra, but Adam escapes with the help of Gideon. Adam then tracks down Naberius' headquarters, where he finds Terra and frees her. He also discovers that Naberius has amassed thousands of corpses in a hidden chamber, ready to be reanimated. Adam fights his way through the demons and confronts Naberius, who reveals himself as the fallen angel Samyaza. He offers Adam a chance to join him, but Adam refuses. A battle ensues between the gargoyles and the demons over Naberius' facility. Adam manages to kill Zuriel by descending him with his own weapon and then faces Naberius on top of a roof. He defeats Naberius by ripping out his heart and descending him along with himself.

However, instead of being dragged to Hell, Adam survives as he has grown his own soul during his life. Leonore rescues him and brings him back to the cathedral. She tells him that he is welcomed in their family and gives him an ancient weapon called "The Redeemer" as a symbol of their gratitude. She also reveals that Terra is safe and has destroyed all of Naberius' research along with Frankenstein's journal. Adam accepts his new role as a gargoyle ally and prepares for a new adventure.
